LHH has been retained by a private equity backed, pre-school nursery business embarking on an aggressive buy and build growth strategy seeking to hire a highly skilled Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the creation and prevalence of a robust financial control environment, delivering accurate and timely reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making at a senior level.
You will lead a small finance team, managing and developing junior staff, while embedding strong processes and controls across the function. With responsibility for cashflow forecasting, treasury management, and statutory compliance, you will also take the lead on system improvements, process automation, and upcoming system migrations. The role offers exposure to the board and investors , with the chance to influence key financial decisions as the business continues to rapidly expand.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will play a central role in supporting growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions, including involvement in due diligence, integrations, and the development of scalable finance processes. Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide insight that shapes business performance while maintaining a strong focus on controls and compliance.
We are seeking a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience, ideally gained in multi-site or service-based environments. You will bring a track record of producing management accounts, leading audits, and managing cashflow, along with strong technical accounting knowledge and a proactive, commercially aware mindset. Experience in high-growth or private equity-backed businesses will be advantageous, as will exposure to M&A activity and system change projects.
