At Lee Hecht Harrison, our mission is inspired by a simple story. A story that reminds us that the smallest act can make a difference.
For us, that difference could be transforming an entire company's workforce, helping a team or leader become more effective, or finding someone a new and better role.
That's why we're passionate about breaking down solutions into individual, deliverable changes. Changes that have a real effect on each employee, in any role, at every level of your organization.
So whether you're a senior leader, or simply a mere philosopher on a stroll, we're here to help make that difference. For all the starfish on the beach.
One day a philosopher was walking along the beach when he noticed a figure that appeared to be dancing in the distance. As he got closer, he realized the figure was that of a young man picking something up and gently throwing it in the ocean. Approaching the young man, he asked, "What are you doing?" The young man replied, "Throwing starfish in the ocean. The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them back, they'll die."
"But young man," the philosopher said, "don't you realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it? You can't possibly make difference!"
After listening politely, the young man bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the philosopher, he said, "I made a difference for that one."
