LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team in Berkeley, California. Ideally you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounts payable cycle, ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices, and maintaining strong relationships with internal departments and external vendors. This role is critical in supporting the financial operations and overall integrity of our accounting processes.

PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed at the client’s office in Berkeley, California.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Process high-volume vendor invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy of invoice coding and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Reconcile discrepancies with vendors and internal departments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records and update information as needed.
  • Assist with weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues promptly.
  • Assist in month-end closing by preparing accruals and reconciling accounts payable-related accounts.
  • Collaborate with the finance and procurement teams to improve AP processes and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and local regulations.
  • Maintain filing systems for financial documentation (digital and physical).
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP best practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ERP systems).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, education, or tech environment.
  • Familiarity with Berkeley-area vendors or California-specific compliance requirements.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Pay Details: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour
