Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

$95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per Year
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop, perfect, and implement new manufacturing equipment, automation, and robotics while also assisting with smaller projects involving tooling, fixtures, jigs, etc.
- Understand and apply concepts of Design For Manufacturing (DFM) when creating new equipment
- Lead new projects from beginning to end including the definition of the concept, designing the equipment with CAD, BOM selection, and installation onsite at the manufacturing center
- Generate ideas for how to improve usage of existing automation and robotics
- Work closely with the engineering team and technicians on the floor who will put your vision into action
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process, complete Root Cause Analyses, and conduct follow up to ensure that the proper resolutions are in place
- Create and/or enhance Value Streams to improve efficiencies
- Calculate cost estimates for final equipment designs, and release reports to supervisors
- Attend weekly team meetings to provide progress reports, obtain updates on colleagues’ progress, strategize on steps for following week and acquire information about upcoming projects
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering is required (this is non-negotiable)
- Must possess a minimum of 5+ years of experience designing manufacturing equipment, automation, and/or robotics
- Must have experience implementing designs for manufacturing equipment, automation, and/or robotics and leading those projects through the installation phase onsite at a manufacturing center
- Must have design experience using a CAD system such as SolidWorks or Creo 3D
- Must possess the ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Must possess strong analytical, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively work as part of a cross-functional team
