Job Posting: Material Planner


Location: Bothell, WA Pay Rate: $33-$37 per hour depending on experience level


Position Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled Material Planner to develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) in our MRP system. The successful candidate will manage material procurement for the manufacturing of custom aircraft interiors, ensuring all materials, purchased parts, and equipment are accurately ordered and delivered on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Review Engineering Drawings: Examine engineering drawings for material/component specification accuracy, using knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles.


  • Bill of Materials (BOM): Build and manage the BOM in the MRP system based on engineering drawings, including evaluating make vs. buy sub-assemblies.


  • Procurement Coordination: Create purchase requisitions based on schedules, lead times, and quantity requirements.


  • Material Scheduling: Track material deliveries according to aircraft modification schedules and production needs.


  • Material Calculation: Compute material requirements for job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.


  • Cross-Functional Support: Communicate with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Project Management, Sales, and other personnel regarding material specifications, lead times, substitutions, and costs.


  • Lead Time Improvement: Work with Procurement to enhance lead times from vendors and address quality improvements.


  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with Procurement and Stores to maintain adequate levels of parts and raw materials. Expedite items as needed.


  • Cost Review: Evaluate material costs to ensure best value.


  • Attendance: Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and work full shifts.


  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience & Certification:



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.


  • Experience: Two plus years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aviation and aircraft interior experience is a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Proficiency with MRP software, database software, inventory and order processing systems, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).


  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.


  • Familiarity with procurement of raw materials and parts for VIP aircraft interiors.


  • Strong analytical skills and experience with MS Dynamics AX is preferred.


  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and solve complex problems.
