LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist with a background in the non-profit sector for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Carmichael, CA. Ideally you will have a strong understanding of fund accounting, grant management, and donor receivables, and will be responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts receivable process in compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and internal policies.

PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed at the client’s office in Carmichael, California.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process incoming payments (checks, ACH, credit card, etc.) and ensure timely and accurate posting to the general ledger

  • Prepare and distribute customer/donor invoices and monthly statements

  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances

  • Reconcile AR sub-ledger to general ledger monthly

  • Manage restricted and unrestricted revenue in accordance with GAAP and fund accounting principles

  • Track and allocate grant-related receivables

  • Assist with financial reporting related to donations, grants, and program revenues

  • Maintain donor and grant documentation for audit and reporting purposes

  • Collaborate with program and development teams on revenue tracking and reporting

  • Support year-end audits and assist with 990 preparation

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and non-profit accounting standards


Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 2–4 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, preferably in a non-profit organization

  • Knowledge of fund accounting and non-profit GAAP required

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, Sage Intacct, or similar)

  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with donor databases (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect, etc.)

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with grant billing and compliance

  • Familiarity with FASB 116 and 117

  • Experience working with federal or state grants
