LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist with a background in the non-profit sector for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Carmichael, CA. Ideally you will have a strong understanding of fund accounting, grant management, and donor receivables, and will be responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts receivable process in compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and internal policies.
PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed at the client’s office in Carmichael, California.
Key Responsibilities
Process incoming payments (checks, ACH, credit card, etc.) and ensure timely and accurate posting to the general ledger
Prepare and distribute customer/donor invoices and monthly statements
Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
Reconcile AR sub-ledger to general ledger monthly
Manage restricted and unrestricted revenue in accordance with GAAP and fund accounting principles
Track and allocate grant-related receivables
Assist with financial reporting related to donations, grants, and program revenues
Maintain donor and grant documentation for audit and reporting purposes
Collaborate with program and development teams on revenue tracking and reporting
Support year-end audits and assist with 990 preparation
Ensure compliance with internal controls and non-profit accounting standards
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–4 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, preferably in a non-profit organization
Knowledge of fund accounting and non-profit GAAP required
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, Sage Intacct, or similar)
Strong Excel skills and familiarity with donor databases (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect, etc.)
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with grant billing and compliance
Familiarity with FASB 116 and 117
Experience working with federal or state grants
