Workers' Compensation Paralegal

LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently recruiting a Workers’ Compensation Paralegal for a regional law firm client in Charlotte, NC. The litigation paralegal position allows for a blended on-site/remote work schedule after training. This position supports a very strong practice group in the firm and they are looking for someone who is excited to work with this busy and productive team.

Responsibilities

Set up new files, including preparation of conflict worksheet

Draft correspondence, case status reports and budget

Draft pleadings, including answers, motions, notices, orders, calendar requests, subpoenas, affidavits, and other court filings;

Draft IC Forms, including Form 24 Application to Terminate Benefits

Prepare medical, event and plaintiff personnel file chronologies

Review and analyze discovery documents

Communicate with opposing counsel, co-counsel, clients, insureds, expert witnesses, court personnel, and others, to facilitate progress of cases;

Conduct legal research utilizing a variety of databases and electronic resources

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience, supporting a workers’ compensation defense practice

North Carolina court experience preferred

Working knowledge or familiarity with NC Industrial Commission

Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred

Proficiency with MS Office package and legal billing software

Strong project and case management skills

Excellent legal research skills, including utilization of online resources and subscriptions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail
