Human Resource Generalist

The Human Resource Generalist provides a wide range of human resources support to the organization, ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations. This role is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and training and development. This is a Contract opportunity located in Chicago IL.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with full-cycle recruitment processes, including job posting, screening resumes, conducting initial phone screens, and scheduling interviews.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, including preparing offer letters, conducting new hire orientations, and processing necessary paperwork.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns related to HR policies, benefits, and other workplace issues.
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations issues, such as employee complaints, disciplinary actions, and workplace conflicts.
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee performance management, coaching, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Assist employees with questions regarding benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and time off.
  • Process employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Conduct benefits open enrollment meetings and provide employee education on benefit options.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of employee training programs, including onboarding, safety training, and professional development workshops.
  • Maintain training records and track employee participation in training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and wage and hour laws.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of employee records.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the HR Manager or Director, including special projects and administrative tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a related HR role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Job Details:
  • Contract
  • Monday- Friday, first shift
  • Pay is $25-$30 an hour, depending on experience
