Intellectual Property Trademark Paralegal - Chicago (Hybrid Eligible)
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000
We are seeking a highly experienced Trademark Paralegal to support attorneys within a well-regarded Intellectual Property practice group. This is a full-time opportunity based in Chicago, with hybrid flexibility offered following an initial onboarding period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of U.S. and international trademark prosecution and post-registration maintenance.
- Conduct knockout searches, request third-party clearance reports, analyze trademark specimens, and determine appropriate classes for goods/services.
- Prepare and file trademark and copyright applications, extensions, statements of use, declarations (Sections 8, 15, 9), renewals, and TTAB filings (oppositions, cancellations, etc.).
- Track and maintain critical deadlines using docketing systems for large volumes of active trademarks and related filings.
- Provide direct client communication and support, including obtaining application information, responding to inquiries, and delivering deadline updates.
- Support IP litigation and enforcement matters as needed, including document preparation and filing with the USPTO, TTAB, or courts.
- Accurately record billable time entries and assist with firm-wide IP paralegal procedures and process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of trademark prosecution experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Strong familiarity with USPTO platforms (TEAS, TESS, TTAB), WIPO, and IP docketing systems such as CPI, FoundationIP, or similar.
- Experience with U.S. and international trademark filings, TTAB proceedings, and clearance searches.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a high-volume docket.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel) and PDF editing software (Adobe/Kofax).
- Familiarity with handling graphic elements such as trademark specimens and design/logo filings.
- A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred; Notary Public is a plus.
