LHH is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join an organization in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience in payroll processing and a solid understanding of payroll compliance and accounting functions. This role will involve preparing for annual audits, processing garnishments, and reconciling payroll accounts. Additional responsibilities include accounting tasks such as bank reconciliations and managing accounts payable/receivable, as well as administrative duties like copying, faxing, typing, and mailing correspondence. Title- Payroll Specialist
Rate- $27-$29/hr., role will convert between $57-$60k
Schedule- 100% Onsite
Position Type-Temp to hire
Payroll Specialist – Key Responsibilities:
Administer weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll cycles.
Accurately calculate federal and state income taxes, Social Security, unemployment, and workers’ compensation contributions.
Reconcile payroll and tax-related accounts, including lien accounts.
Perform full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment reconciliation, and customer/vendor account management.
Manage manual check processing, stop payments, reissues, and duplicate requests for checks and W-2s.
Process wage garnishments in compliance with legal requirements.
Support Operations with payroll adjustments and data entry corrections.
Record monthly payroll journal entries.
Generate and transmit electronic direct deposit files.
Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum four years of payroll administration experience.
Previous experience with ADP Workforce Now software is highly desirable
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a structured environment.
High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
