Mechanical Design Engineer

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our client in Pittsburgh, PA.

Responsibilities:

Take ownership of the engineering and design efforts for systems of customized plastic processing equipment that can include different combinations of presses, clamps, temperature control systems, and conveyors among other types of machinery

Source and incorporate purchased parts/assemblies into designs as needed

Communicate effectively with internal contacts such as project managers, electrical engineers, and production

Be involved as needed with new product development

Work with manufacturing on continuous improvement by creating and completing engineering change requests to standard designs

Up to 5% travel

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field

5+ years of experience in design of complex industrial machinery

Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, materials science, and electromechanical systems

Skills:

Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
