Litigation Secretary

LHH is currently seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant for a well-established firm in Dallas, TX. This position is 100% onsite for the first 90 days, and after turns hyrbid with 1 day a week remote. Duties, including but not limited to:

Excellent typing, proofreading, and editing of legal documents for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors, and completeness prior to distribution or filing

Maintain current knowledge on filing and service requirements and procedures in county, state, and federal courts, to timely and effectively file and serve documents with minimal to no oversight.

Draft standard pleadings, discovery, correspondence, memoranda and other documents

Maintain electronic calendars for assigned attorneys with close attention to deadlines

Routinely review and follow-up on client deadlines and calendar appointments

Electronically file documents in the court systems with both state and federal courts

Coordinate and make necessary arrangements for meetings (i.e., depositions, mediations, interviews, and vendor and facility reservations)

Review discovery requests and responses, prepare response shells as needed, review client documents for production

Assist with outgoing communication: formatting, proofing, finalizing

Organize and maintain case files and other filings – both hardcopy and electronic

Skills & Qualifications:

3+ years of experience minimum as a legal assistant or paralegal in a heavy litigation firm

Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate, preferred but those with a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with commensurate years of experience in the field will also be considered

Possess a high degree of proficiency with filing and e-filing in state and federal courts

Strong computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Document Management Systems, Time Entry, e-Filing and database software
