LHH has partnered with an exciting construction company in Hanover, MD to identify a Senior Project Accountant! The Senior Project Accountant will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of our construction projects. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in project accounting, preferably within the construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Financial Management: Oversee the financial management of multiple construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, general ledger, and cost control.

  • Budget Preparation: Collaborate with project managers to prepare and review project budgets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals.

  • Cost Tracking: Monitor and track project costs, identifying variances and providing timely reports to project managers and senior management.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present detailed financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for each project.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations. Conduct regular audits to maintain financial integrity.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with construction projects. Provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and process improvements.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support project decision-making.

  • System Management: Utilize accounting software and project management tools to maintain accurate financial records and streamline processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting, with a strong preference for experience in the construction industry.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in accounting software and project management tools.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and construction project management.
