Buyer in Indianapolis, Indiana

LHH is seeking a Buyer for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a manufacturing client located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a newly created position /department where you will lead all sourcing and purchasing duties for the manufacturing center. We are seeking candidates who are strong in negotiation, supplier/vendor management, planning, and project management. The compensation ranges between $60,000-70,000 and includes a bonus program, medical insurance plans, PTO, and a 401K match.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop and execute effective sourcing and purchasing strategies with new and existing business partners for all assigned categories/commodities

· Maintain and manage vendors/suppliers within the ERP system

· Conduct inventory analysis, ensure proper quantity levels, and assist with expedited deliveries when necessary

· Direct a supply base that achieves benchmarks on quality, cost, delivery, and innovation

· Conduct in-depth cost and spend analyses within your department, develop cost savings initiatives, and achieve all cost reduction savings targets

· Stay abreast of industry trends and market developments in your respective categories

QUALIFICATIONS

· Must have a minimum of three years of experience sourcing and purchasing materials to support production needs

· Must have managed an annual spend of at least $1M/year

· Must come from a manufacturing/industrial environment

· Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field is preferred

· Must possess a track record of being a results-driven person who consistently meets and exceeds organizational goals

· Must be a natural problem-solver who possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Must be proficient with leading negotiations for high value contracts

· Strong understanding of RFI/RFQ sourcing processes is required
