LHH is seeking a Materials Manager for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a manufacturing client in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team at a company that has experienced exponential growth as a result of launching new product lines. You will lead a team of buyers, planners, and warehousing professionals and will be responsible for production planning, shipping and receiving, purchasing, tracking materials through the supply chain, managing inventory, and effectively meeting customer demands. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $95,000-115,000 per year plus bonus and includes affordable medical insurance plans, Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with company match.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create the production schedule and assist the Production Manager in leading the planning meetings with each department manager prior to production shifts
  • Confirm accurate stock levels of all raw materials & packaging components are in place before adding to production schedule
  • Convey new sales orders to Operations team and ensures the production schedule can meet lead times.
  • Anticipate planning based on customer prior year purchases & current stock levels
  • Communicate with customers regarding forecast demand reviews, lead time on finished goods, etc.
  • Work with approved suppliers for product availability, market conditions and ensures contracts are in place where required
  • Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the department
  • Develop and execute effective sourcing and purchasing strategies with new and existing suppliers
  • Oversee vendor selection and purchasing decisions through competitive bidding and strategic sourcing processes
  • Spearhead vendor negotiations to decrease prices for reoccurring purchases
  • Direct a supply base that achieves benchmarks on quality, cost, delivery, and innovation
  • Implement process improvement initiatives to decrease lead time and improve on-time delivery to customers
  • Responsible for the development and accuracy of inventory management reports
  • Manage change, inventory control, financial analysis and ensure proper distribution of inventory for any discontinued, damaged and/or obsolete inventory items
  • Communicate daily movement of materials from production to distribution
  • Implement continuous improvement methods (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) in manufacturing and distribution
  • Play a key role in implementation of new processes, equipment, and products.

  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing buyers, planners, schedulers, warehousing employees, etc. is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of materials, inventory management, purchasing, and/or supply chain management experience within a manufacturing setting is required
  • Must have intermediate or advanced skills using Excel
  • Ideal candidates will possess a Six Sigma Belt and/or APICS certification
  • Must be a self-motivated worker who is results-driven
  • Must be a natural problem-solver who possesses excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of value streams, cost drivers, and core components of cost structures
