Healthcare Underwriter | Kansas City, MO
LHH is working with a client in the Kansas City, MO area who is seeking to hire a Healthcare Underwriter. This role is responsible for evaluating health-related risk factors and determining appropriate coverage terms and pricing for group and individual healthcare policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical underwriting principles, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment methodologies. Our ideal candidate would have AT LEAST 5 YEARS of Medical Underwriting experience- specifically healthcare.
Responsibilities:
- Review and assess health statements, medical records, and other documentation to evaluate risk.
- Determine eligibility and pricing for healthcare insurance applicants.
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and internal teams to gather necessary information and communicate underwriting decisions.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
- Provide recommendations for policy terms, exclusions, and coverage limits based on risk analysis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in medical/healthcare underwriting (LARGE GROUPS)
- Strong knowledge of health insurance products, underwriting practices, and regulatory standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Job Type: Direct Hire
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, HYBRID- 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
