Medical Collection Specialist II in Mesa, Arizona

LHH is currently seeking to fill a temp to hire Medical Collections Specialist position in the Mesa, AR area. In this position the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing patient accounts and revise accordingly, manage calls and follow-up with patients and insurance company regarding outstanding payments. Responsibilities:

Oversee patient accounts

Manage incoming and outgoing calls regarding medical collections

Follow-up with patients and insurance companies regarding outstanding payments and use practice management system to track account revisions

Assists in the preparation of quarterly Medicare credit balance report, if applicable

Reviews A/R reports, develops, and continues to improve collection strategies; identifies problem payer trends and communicates to Directors of Reimbursement and Contracting; maintains DSO at acceptable levels

Develops relationships with all government and commercial payers to facilitate claims resolution

Responsible for staying abreast of changes in Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing requirements; studies industry publications and online notifications, identifies important issues, and distributes highlighted information to Accounts Receivable Teams

Qualifications:

High School Diploma, GED

Some college courses or courses in insurance billing

Medical terminology understanding a must

Four (4) years of experience in a medical collections’ environment

Ability to analyze data

Exceptional customer service skills

Understand and apply Medicare and Medicaid ESRD rules and regulations; knowledge with Medicare and Medicaid is preferred; understands the private insurance industry: PPO, HMO, POS, Medicare Advantage, and Indemnity Plans

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pay Rate: $19.00 - $22.00/per hour depending on experience
