Job Title: Residential Property Accountant
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Head of Accounting / Property Controller
Location: New York City
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $120k - $130k plus bonus

Position Summary:
A high end real-estate company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Residential Property Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of residential properties, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly journal entries and schedules for accruals, prepaid items, and GAAP adjustments.
Perform bank reconciliations and maintain fixed asset schedules, including depreciation tracking.
Process operating and real estate tax escalation adjustments, as well as percentage rent calculations.
Manage billing and applications related to subsidized rents.
Input journal entries into the general ledger system (Yardi).
Maintain reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and perform monthly variance analyses.
Conduct monthly utility cost analysis and reconcile various accounts receivable balances.
Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports and support annual audits.
Contribute to budget preparation and review of new lease abstracts.
Ensure compliance with partnership and loan agreements.
Communicate with external stakeholders such as joint venture partners and lenders as needed.
Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Yardi experience preferred).
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented.
Experience & Education:
3–5 years of relevant experience in residential or retail real estate accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Pay Details: $120,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
