Payroll Specialist in North Chesterfield, Virginia

LHH is searching for a Payroll Specialist, contract (possible contract-to-hire), working in the office, for a company in the Southside of Richmond, Virginia.

Vaccination preferred

Contract Pay: $20 to $25 an hour

Permanent Salary Range: $45,000 to $60,000

MUST have experience with ADP.

Duties: Helping with moving from semi-monthly multi-state payroll to biweekly payroll for over 1,500 employees.

Payroll Processing and Acceptance

Process and review time sheets

Resolve any payroll issues

Review and administer garnishments

Upload 401k employee contributions

Process and review payroll reports to ensure all employees are paid accurately

Audit payroll reports and validate payroll register totals before acceptance of payroll

Processes and saves all payroll reports

Reconcile payroll reports to general ledger import files and identify errors

Prepare journal entries to ensure payroll transactions are balanced and properly recorded on general ledger

Process and reconcile monthly, quarterly and year end payroll reporting

Assist with answering questions from employees regarding wages and other payroll inquiries

Possess knowledge of garnishment rules and processes

Resolve tax related issues and interpret federal, state and local tax returns, laws, and regulations

Verify employee timecard to create manual check entry for missed hours

Requirements

Associates Degree in Accounting or Payroll certification (FPC, CPP) strongly preferred.

3+ years multi-state payroll experience

Strong Excel skills preferred

Must pass criminal, credit and 10 panel drug test.
