General Description

The Career Advisor will work with Adult and Dislocated Worker to develop professional goals and job readiness skills which will enable them to secure and maintain gainful employment. They are responsible for building training cohorts based on assigned industry sectors. The Career Advisor will work with the Account Manager and Trainer/Education Specialist to make certain that customers are attending training that will lead to employment. They will assist the Trainer with reviewing and editing customer resumes and provide feedback to the customer. The Career Advisor will also provide assistance to the Trainer/Education Specialist when needed, for workshops or customer orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist job candidates in exploring career paths
  • Complete eligibility requirements
  • Create Individual Employment Plans for customers
  • Review resumes and assess candidates’ eligibility for specific job openings
  • Conduct workshops to help build candidates’ skills and improve their chances of employment
  • Meet with candidates on a regular basis to ensure their employment and training goals are met
  • Work in coordination with the team assist candidates with barriers to employment
  • Follow up with candidates to obtain placement information and provide retention support
  • Assist with data entry, creating new customer records and updating existing records as needed while maintaining data quality in multiple systems
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education, skills and experience related to the position.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the teaching, human resources, or advisement fields
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and is result oriented
  • Outgoing, engaging and extroverted personality
  • Experience navigating workforce or some workforce experience
  • Ability to problem solve and work with a diverse customer base
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
