As a Data Scientist, you will work with our Data Analytics team to deliver insights and solutions to our clients.
We'll trust you to
• Consult on the business strategy by conceiving, designing, developing, and delivering packaged and bespoke statistical, heuristic, and machine learning analyses for predicting and measuring the impact of business activities, and effectively presenting insights to decision makers and other business stakeholders.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with other support functions by partnering with all functional areas required to connect to data, perform analyses or present results.
• Applies advanced machine learning techniques (e.g., K nearest neighbors, binary classification, linear regression, etc.), statistical concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, parametric/nonparametric tests, bootstrap, etc.) to solve complex business problems such as to measure and optimize the return our client’s investments to drive App installations, grow W+ member base, and drive customer engagement.
• Conduct research with business sponsors to generate new testable hypotheses. Conduct statistical power analyses using baseline metrics from historical data, expected impact from past learnings or expert opinion, and population size for qualifying audience to determine minimum sample size required to conduct a feasible test with a strong statistical power to get statistically significant results.
• Use causal inference techniques such as synthetic control matching to find statistically identical treatment and control groups using pre period covariate balancing methods.
• Generate confidence intervals estimates and conduct tests of significance using resampling methods/bootstrapping.
• Prepare data sets for machine learning models and statistical analyses by creating feature vectors which summarize sales, demographics, lifetime value, and other customer dimensions, and apply data transformations to handle missing values and convert categorical variables to binary indictors.
• Derive insights for driving business decisions by taming huge data sets by applying advanced data manipulation techniques using big data tools such as Hive, Pyspark and Big Query, and parallel computing packages such as Dask and Spark.
What you bring to the role
• Minimum 6+ years of experience using data to facilitate decisions in the Retail/ eCommerce industry
• Bachelor’s degree or (Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science or other quantitative field) and 4 years of experience using data to facilitate decisions preferred
• Preferred - Minimum 3+ years of experience in A/B testing using popular measurement tools (Optimizely, VWO, Google Experiments, Adobe Target, etc.)
• Experience managing projects end-to-end in an agile framework in a cross-functional capacity
• Experience with statistical analysis using Python or R
• 3+ Years of experience using big data tools such as Hive, Pyspark and Big Query, and parallel computing packages such as Dask and Spark
• 3+ years of experience applying ML techniques to solve complex business problems
