LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and process payroll.


This role is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payroll, as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll operations, preferably within the hospitality industry, and will serve as a lead resource for Payroll Coordinators and various payroll-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly and biweekly payrolls for multiple entities
  • Provide guidance and training to Payroll Coordinators; act as department lead in the absence of the Payroll Manager
  • Develop BI reports in UKG/UltiPro
  • Maintain clear communication between HR and Payroll teams
  • Assist with payroll-related projects, including data analysis and system testing
  • Stay current on legislative and system changes affecting payroll
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and agency disbursements
  • Review and oversee restaurant managers’ monthly reconciliations
  • Ensure timely and accurate W-2 processing and year-end adjustments
  • Resolve discrepancies in hours worked vs. hours paid
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
  • Support field management in resolving payroll issues
  • Participate in special projects and generate custom reports as needed

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 1–3 years of hands-on payroll experience
  • Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (UKG/UltiPro preferred) and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing (NY, NJ, CT, PA)
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
