Operations Manager


LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an Operations Manager for our client in the northeast Pittsburgh PA suburbs, which has become a need due to rapid growth in recent years. They produce a highly engineered product for hospitals, universities, research, and government facilities worldwide. Typical orders involve CNC machining, welding, cutting, finishing, along with other manufacturing processes.


In this role, you will:

  • Supervise shopfloor staff to produce manufactured products and organizes and monitors workflow.
  • Accomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Champion a culture of safety within the business.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring and upgrading processes, monitoring personnel and resources, studying methods, implementing cost reductions, developing reporting procedures and systems, facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points, and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing production standards.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Partner with Quality to rise issues proactively and implements corrective action plans when required.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to correct and improve drawings when required.
  • Align with project management to promote “design for manufacturing” into the product development process.

  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing with 5+ years of relevant experience; or 10+ years of experience in manufacturing supervision
  • Prior supervisory experience, with solid team management, coaching skills, and a safety-focused leadership style
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings
  • Experience in metal fabrication
  • Strong time and process management skills
