LHH Recruit Solutions is searching for a Controller for a tier 2 manufacturing client located in Troy, MI to be responsible for managing and maintaining the finance and purchasing functions for two manufacturing operations in the US. As a senior member of the management team, you will provide financial insights and projections to the finance and operations team and general finance, accounting and purchasing and present financial results to parent. This hands-on role will be responsible for the following:

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and consolidated statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Manage and review all general ledger transactions, including AR and AP
  • Review and approve check runs, including ACH payments and check-signing
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, including but not limited to, inventory/COGS, payroll, accruals, depreciation and prepaids
  • Maintenance of fixed assets and depreciation
  • Develop long range forecasts/budgets, including projections for capital expenditures, personnel costs, and profit/loss projections
  • Prepare ad hoc reports, analyses and KPI reports
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives
  • Oversee enterprise software/MRP and accounting software to insure daily operational functions perform as desired
  • Oversee HR and Purchasing functions
  • Perform ad-hoc duties required to support the growth of the organization
  • Maintain banking relationships including quarterly and annual financial reports and covenants
  • Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, or annual compensation calculations
  • Manage inter-company accounting activity and reconcile transactions, income statement & balance sheet balances
  • File annual sales tax and property tax statements
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Ten years of finance and accounting experience in manufacturing
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of cost and inventory
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with fully integrated ERP packages
  • Strong analytical capability and financial modeling skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information to top management
