Job Title: Accounting Supervisor
Location: Nassau County, NY (On-site or Hybrid per company policy)

Position Summary
A fast-paced and growing private equity-owned manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Supervisor to join its finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will supervise the day-to-day accounting operations, support the monthly close process, and ensure compliance with internal controls and U.S. GAAP.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, career-driven accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-moving, performance-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting foundation, leadership experience, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Public accounting experience is a strong plus, particularly with clients in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and fixed assets
Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Review reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
Oversee and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
Work closely with the Controller to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, and support finance transformation initiatives
Support the annual budget and periodic forecast processes by providing accurate actuals and insightful analysis
Serve as a key liaison for external auditors during year-end audits and other compliance reviews
Assist in the implementation of accounting policies, ERP improvements, and operational accounting procedures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Supply Chain, HR, etc.) to ensure accurate and timely financial data
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or lead roles
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control best practices
Experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
High attention to detail with a mindset for continuous improvement
Preferred:
CPA designation or CPA eligible a plus
Background in public accounting, ideally with manufacturing or PE-backed clients
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Familiarity with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), and standard costing
Prior experience in a private equity environment or a high-growth company
