LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity in Alameda, California. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for our client’s employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant laws and regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


PLEASE NOTE: This opportunity is located in Alameda, California and does not offer a remote working option.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Process weekly payroll for employees accurately and on time using UKG software.


  • Verify and reconcile payroll data, including hours worked, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.


  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements.


  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, including pay discrepancies and tax withholdings.


  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and payroll information.


  • Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as needed.


  • Stay updated on payroll best practices, tax laws, and regulatory changes affecting payroll processing.


DESIRED SKILLS & BACKGROUND



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably using UKG software (UltiPro).


  • Strong understanding of payroll taxes, deductions, and compliance requirements.


  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.


  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.


  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with employees and stakeholders.


  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
