System Engineer

Job Overview: The System Engineer is responsible for maintaining the stability and efficiency of our IT infrastructure, with a particular focus on server and storage systems. This role involves a mix of design, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks. You will work closely with other IT team members, as well as with production and engineering departments, to ensure seamless operations and to improve overall system performance.


Responsibilities:



  • Design, implement, and maintain server and storage infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability.


  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization to identify and address potential bottlenecks.


  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, providing root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.


  • Ensure security compliance by applying best practices for system hardening, patch management, and access control.


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop solutions that support business objectives.


  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.


  • Participate in on-call rotation for system-related emergencies and provide after-hours support as required.


  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and ensure optimal performance.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.


  • 3+ years of experience in system engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.


  • Strong knowledge of server and storage technologies, including Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, SANs, and NAS.


  • Experience with system monitoring tools and techniques.


  • Understanding of networking concepts, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.


  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and task management.


  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.


  • System certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, RHCSA, VMware VCP) are a plus.


Compensation and Benefits:
