THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Director, Communications, Marketing, and External Relations provides leadership in shaping and advancing Yee Hong’s brand and reputation in alignment with the organization’s long-term vision and strategic priorities. This role is responsible for orchestrating integrated communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that support organizational growth, transformation, and sector leadership. Through expert management of public affairs, government and media relations, advocacy, and brand positioning, the Senior Director, Communications, Marketing and External Relations ensures that all strategies and messaging are cohesive, forward-looking, and fully aligned with Yee Hong’s mission and objectives.
The Senior Director, Communications, Marketing, and External Relations will adapt responsibilities as directed by the CEO to align with Yee Hong’s evolving priorities and organizational structure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications, Marketing, and Brand Management
- Creates a unified internal and external communications framework that aligns communications, marketing, and external relations with Yee Hong’s strategic objectives.
- Oversees the development of strategic messaging and content across all platforms, including digital and social media, to inspire and engage key stakeholders.
- Leads the development and execution of annual internal and external communications and marketing plans aligned to identified business goals and objectives.
- Leads initiatives to enhance Yee Hong’s visibility and reputation through proactive media engagement, public relations, and issues management.
- Plans and executes events and campaigns to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, funders, and policymakers.
- Establishes benchmarks and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and marketing campaigns.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships with all levels of government, private sector organizations, community groups, funders, and Ontario Health Teams.
- Represents Yee Hong in external forums where appropriate to advocate for policies and funding that support its mission.
- Coordinates responses to media inquiries, government requests, and public engagements on behalf of the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Oversees the development of high-impact communications materials, including key messages, briefing notes, press releases, presentations, tailored to diverse audiences.
Internal Collaboration
- Supports fostering a culture of collaboration and shared accountability across Yee Hong’s divisions, including long-term care, hospice, corporate and home care & community services.
- Supports internal teams with strategic guidance on communications, marketing, and employee and external engagement initiatives.
- Leads the execution of internal events and strategic project communications, ensuring alignment with Yee Hong’s brand, mission and strategic priorities.
People Leadership:
- Mentors a high performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Sets clear goals, provides regular feedback, and recognizes team achievements to drive
- Optimizes team capacity and allocates resources effectively to support project success.
- Builds an inclusive, transparent, and supportive work environment that encourages open communication and trust.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, communications, public relations, or a related field. Designations in communications, marketing or public relations are preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategic communications, marketing, and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated experience in people leadership, creating and fostering high performing teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading and supporting organizational change initiatives, including the development and implementation of strategies that drive financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and innovative service delivery models in the seniors and health sectors.
- Demonstrated results and expertise in government relations, media relations, issues management, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills with the ability to deliver compelling messages across diverse channels and audiences.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, digital tools, and analytics; experience with graphic and video creation software is an asset.
- Advanced emotional intelligence and cultural humility with a proven ability to lead in diverse and inclusive environments.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors in a non-profit or healthcare setting is an asset.
- Strategic and growth mindset with the ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment focused on innovation and results.
- Ability to inspire and engage cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (including vulnerable sector screening).
- Valid driver’s license and access to transportation for local travel between sites
Working Conditions:
- Light physical demands with occasional evening or weekend meetings.
- Local travel to Yee Hong sites and external venues as required.
