The Law Society of Scotland is the professional body and regulator for over 13,000 Scottish solicitors. As a world class professional body, it regulates Scottish solicitors in the public interest and works to deliver legal excellence, serving the needs of its members and the public.
It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland as we start to implement the Regulation of Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2025; this new legislation will better protect consumers and allow the Scottish legal services market to thrive.
A unique opportunity to join the Law Society of Scotland as Interim Head of Professional Conduct has arisen due to the current post-holder starting an internal secondment to implement the Regulation of Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2025.
This role is responsible for leading and efficiently managing the Society's statutory duties in relation to the regulation of solicitors' professional conduct, including overseeing complaints investigations and decisions before the independent Professional Conduct Sub-committee or Scottish Solicitors' Discipline Tribunal. The role plays a wider part in protecting the public, maintaining confidence in the legal profession and upholding proper professional standards.
The ideal candidate will be a Scottish Solicitor with an unrestricted practicing certificate, possessing excellent technical legal skills and strong experience in professional regulation.
At the centre of the organisation sit the values of Respect, Openness, Progress, Inclusion, and Integrity which will drive you to deliver the best possible service for the legal sector and beyond.
If you are aligned with the Society's values and have the knowledge and experience to help us ensure effective and lawful regulation of the solicitors' profession in Scotland, we would welcome your application.
To apply, please submit a tailored CV and a covering letter (no longer than two pages), outlining your relevant skills and experience for the role, by midnight on Monday 22nd September.
