Job Title: Charities & Education Solicitor
Location: Leeds
Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time

Our client is a leading legal firm known for their expertise in charity law and their commitment to the not-for-profit sector. Sitting within the commercial services group, their education & charities team provides comprehensive legal advice to a wide range of charitable organisations and not-for-profit entities. They are dedicated to supporting their clients in all aspects of charity law and governance to ensure their compliance and success.
Responsibilities:
- Advise and assist with the formation and incorporation of charities
- Provide governance advice on trustee appointments, duties, and compliance
- Assist with mergers, collaborations, and joint ventures involving charities
- Offer legal support to schools on education law matters such as safeguarding, special needs, and admissions
- Assist with the academisation process
- Collaborate with other departments within the organisation, including commercial property, corporate, and private wealth & succession
Essential:
- Qualified solicitor with at least 2PQE
- Proven experience in advising charities and a sound understanding of different forms of charitable organisations
- Experience in advising on charity formation, charitable trading, and governance matters
- Strong knowledge of regulatory aspects of charity practise
Desirable:
- Previous experience or understanding of advising schools on education law matters
- Familiarity with safeguarding, special needs, admissions, and the academisation process
