LHH have exclusively partnered with a global in-house organisation to secure them a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel / Legal Counsel to play a pivotal role in their expanding legal function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a UK-qualified lawyer with a strong background in commercial contracts law, looking to make a strategic impact in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The senior legal counsel with report into the Global General Counsel and be part of a small team with a great culture.
You'll collaborate cross-functionally with teams across Marketing, Commercial, Procurement and Sales functions, providing expert advice on a wide range of legal matters including commercial contracts, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and global market expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including marketing, vendor, and partnership contracts.
- Advise on compliance with consumer protection, advertising, and online platform laws across the UK, EMEA, India, Australia, and the US.
- Provide legal support for the development of new products and features, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and industry best practices.
- Conduct legal research
- Manage and protect the company's intellectual property portfolio.
- Collaborate with Fraud and Risk teams to identify and address misuse of services.
- Develop and implement marketing compliance policies and procedures.
- Guide market entry strategies by advising on regulatory, licensing, and local legal requirements.
- Deliver strategic counsel on global data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other international privacy frameworks.
- Investigate and resolve member complaints with legal implications.
- Educate and support internal stakeholders on compliance matters, including data privacy, ESG standards, and regulatory requirements, through training and policy development.
Your Experience
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with a minimum of 7+ years post-qualification experience, ideally from both private practice and in-house roles within the tech sector.
- Proven expertise in commercial contract negotiation and drafting, especially with customer and vendor agreements.
- In-depth knowledge of marketing, advertising, and consumer protection laws, including loyalty programs, giveaways, and social media compliance.
- Experience advising across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong grasp of data privacy laws and evolving regulatory landscapes.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and guide senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently and juggling multiple priorities in a high-growth environment.
- Tech-savvy with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Thrives in dynamic, collaborative settings and embraces a startup mindset-no task is too big or too small
- Experience working in tech, retail or e-commerce is beneficial
