Overview

We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Application Engineering Lead to guide a high-performing team in delivering scalable, secure, and innovative application solutions. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, and who is passionate about leading cross-functional initiatives that drive operational excellence and digital transformation.

Salary Range: $85k–$95k commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Inspire and lead a team of application engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee project assignments, performance reviews, and professional development plans.

  • Collaborate with HR and leadership on recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.

  • Promote a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and technical mentorship.

Technical Strategy & Execution

  • Translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications and deliverables.

  • Lead the design and implementation of application architecture that supports scalability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Oversee the development and integration of APIs, data pipelines, and third-party platforms.

  • Ensure alignment between business goals and technical capabilities through stakeholder engagement and iterative feedback loops.

Project Management & Delivery

  • Manage full project lifecycles using Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies.

  • Define project scope, timelines, and resource allocation in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.

  • Monitor KPIs and ROI to evaluate project success and inform future initiatives.

  • Provide regular updates to leadership on project milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all applications meet internal security standards and comply with regulatory frameworks (e.g., PCI, PII).

  • Conduct periodic audits and implement change control processes for deployments and rollbacks.

  • Maintain documentation standards and ensure traceability of requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in application development or engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in the financial services industry is required, with a strong understanding of compliance, data security, and digital transformation in regulated environments.

  • Proven experience in managing enterprise-level application projects and cross-functional teams.

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong understanding of software development practices, system architecture, and integration strategies.

  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with SQL, scripting languages, and cloud platforms is a plus.

  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) is desirable.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
