Workers Compensation Adjuster

LHH Recruiting is assisting our client in Albuquerque, NM with hiring a Workers Compensation Adjuster on a contract to permanent basis. In this role you will be responsible for the prompt and efficient examination, investigation, settlement or declination of worker’s compensation insurance claims through effective research, negotiation, and interaction with insureds and claimants, ensuring that company resources are utilized in a cost-effective manner in the process.



Responsibilities:
  • Investigating workers’ compensation claims by communicating with injured workers, medical providers, and employer representatives. Determining if claims are valid under applicable workers’ comp statutes. Communicating with medical provider offices to develop and authorize appropriate treatment plans.
  • Reviewing medical bills to confirm charges and treatment are workers’ comp injury-related and in accordance with the treatment plan.
  • Ensuring payments for medical bills and income replacement are remitted on a timely basis.
  • Answer questions in regards to the status of pending claims from claimants, policyholders and medical providers.
  • Consult with attorneys regarding litigation management, settlement strategy, and claim resolution.
  • Opens new claims, completes three-point contact, and performs needed investigations to determine compensability as well as possible subrogation or apportionment, according to state and/or office timeframes and guidelines.
  • Sets appropriate reserves according to office timeframes and guidelines; makes timely recommendations on reserves that exceed authority.
  • Monitors and maintains accuracy of reserves over the life of the claim; when new information is received, re-evaluates reserves according to office standards.
  • Creates and executes action plans needed to bring case to closure.
  • Makes timely payments according to statute.
  • Makes required statutory filings and responds to requests within required time frames.


Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year experience as a Workers Comp adjuster
  • Licensed in New Mexico to handle Workers Compensation claims.
  • MS Office experience (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Pay Details: $21.63 to $26.44 per hour
