Position Summary: The Accounting Manager role is a key leadership position that requires strong interpersonal skills to manage a large accounting department of 13 employees. It requires a hands-on approach with an innate desire to set goals and achieve results through performance management of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 13 accounting professionals, including two Senior Accountants who handle the monthly close for 80 clients.

  • Focus on building rapport and trust with the team during the first 90 days, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

  • Observe the team to identify process improvements and better ways to use technology to save time.

  • Project management of key deliverables throughout the year, including systems implementation or improvements, and increased efficiencies through the use of Excel and other software programs.

  • Conduct ongoing business process mapping to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights to upper management.

  • Collaborate with other departments, including property management and finance, to support overall business objectives.

  • Actively participate in leadership meetings with upper management to fulfill company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting preferred.

  • 3+ years of work experience in commercial real estate accounting required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience directly supervising a department of 10+ employees.

  • Familiarity with commercial lease accounting and administration.

  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Real Page, MRI, Yardi) and advanced Excel skills; Microsoft Office365 software.

  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization, and time management skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with a customer service orientation.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high degree of independent judgment and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:

  • This is a 100% onsite role. However, after the first 90 days, there may be an option to offer a bucket of remote days based on business needs. This flexibility is at the discretion of the business, and meetings take precedence when scheduling these days.

Our client offers a competitive benefit package including medical, dental, 401(K), paid time off, and growth opportunities in this privately held company. In person interviews will be conducted the week of April 14th. Apply today!
