Actuary Director ($170K to 200K Base Salary + 20% Performance Bonus)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Health Plan Actuary Director for a leading healthcare company based in Austin, TX. This role involves applying advanced mathematical and statistical knowledge to support rating/pricing, valuation, reserving, healthcare economics, and financial forecasting. The selected candidate will be responsible for building and testing new actuarial models and assisting with financial statements.

In addition to having a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, the ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience in actuarial work with a focus on pricing large-group healthcare plans. A Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation is required, while an ASA designation is preferred. Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) is preferred or the ability to join. Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the actuarial team.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with corporate objectives.

  • Collaborate with senior management to support strategic planning and execution.

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of actuarial analyses, including pricing, reserving, and forecasting.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management, regulators, and stakeholders.

  • Lead the development and pricing of new health insurance products.

  • Analyze market trends and competitive data to inform product development and pricing strategies.

  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to ensure new products are actuarially sound.

  • Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations for profitability and sustainability improvements.

  • Assist in the creation of annual budgets and long-term financial plans.

Client Requirements:

  • FSA designation is required; ASA designation is preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics

  • Strong knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards.

  • Proficiency in communicating complex financial models and analyses.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Experience in pricing model development and maintenance, including data management and predictive analytics.
