Health Plan Actuary Manager ($130,000 - $150,000 + 10% Performance Bonus)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Health Plan Actuary Manager for a client in the healthcare industry, located in Austin, TX. This role involves applying knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, and business principles to support various actuarial functions, including pricing, valuation, reserving, and financial forecasting.
In addition to holding an ASA designation, the ideal candidate will have experience in pricing large group healthcare plans, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Responsibilities:
Analyze financial, statistical, and mathematical data to perform actuarial calculations and assessments.
Develop and create monthly reports for trend reviews, pricing, forecasting, and reserving, while optimizing processes for efficiency.
Collaborate with the Tech team to define data collection methods and requirements.
Design and implement customized pricing and valuation models for healthcare plans.
Identify and assess risk in actuarial processes, ensuring reserve adequacy through regular monitoring.
Work closely with Finance, Underwriting, Risk Management, and Sales/Marketing teams to update models and improve underwriting performance.
Provide actuarial support for both internal and external reporting requirements.
Perform special projects, including actuarial research and statistical analyses, as directed by management.
Client Requirements:
Advanced analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in actuarial techniques and standards, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial models.
Experience managing multiple projects within tight deadlines, demonstrating excellent organizational and time management skills.
Minimum of five years of experience in actuarial work, specifically in pricing large group healthcare plans.
Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field.
ASA Designation required; FSA Designation preferred.
Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) preferred or willingness to join.
Experience with Excel-based pricing model development, data management, and predictive analytics.
