LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Project Accountant for a client in the technology industry. This role will primarily focus on project accounting and financial analysis, including setting up, tracking, and processing financial information throughout the lifecycle of customer contracts. The Project Accountant will ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards and collaborate closely with project managers to maintain the financial accuracy of project statuses.
In addition to holding a bachelor’s degree in accounting, the ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience with revenue recognition, project accounting, and working knowledge of NetSuite. Responsibilities:
Manage project accounting processes, including tracking, analyzing, and processing financial data for the full contract lifecycle.
Ensure revenue recognition complies with ASC 606 and other accounting standards.
Collaborate with project managers to monitor and assess project progress and financial performance.
Perform monthly general ledger entries and account reconciliations, focusing on unbilled and deferred revenue accounts.
Assist with monthly billing processes, ensuring accurate invoicing and validation of accounts payable charges related to customer projects.
Analyze project margins and investigate variances to ensure financial goals are met.
Support financial month-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reviews.
Assist in warranty reserve analysis, ensuring appropriate reserve levels are maintained in collaboration with supply chain and operations teams.
Contribute to various financial and audit-related projects, including data compilation for external audits.
Manage property tax assessments and reconcile related accounts, ensuring appropriate reserve requirements are met.
Client Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5 years of accounting experience, specifically with project accounting, revenue recognition, and accrual concepts.
Proficiency in NetSuite is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with advanced Excel skills.
Understanding of cost allocation and billing processes.
