📍 Location: Austin, TX (100% On-Site)

đź’Ľ Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

🎯 Industry: Nonprofit

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Austin that’s making a meaningful impact through education, outreach, and advocacy. As they continue to grow and expand their programs, they’re looking to add a Senior Accountant to their team — someone who brings strong technical accounting skills, nonprofit experience, and a collaborative mindset.

This is a great opportunity to join a values-driven organization where your accounting expertise will directly support their ability to serve the community.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in full-cycle accounting operations — including general ledger management, restricted/unrestricted fund tracking, grant reporting, audit preparation, and monthly close. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail, a working knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (ASC 958), and the ability to work cross-functionally with program, development, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards (ASC 958)

  • Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds; ensure proper allocation and fund release

  • Oversee grant budgeting, reporting, and compliance with funder requirements

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial statements

  • Support audit preparation and respond to external auditor requests

  • Partner with program and development teams to align budgets, reporting, and donor tracking

  • Assist with AP, AR, payroll, and annual budgeting as needed

  • Contribute to process improvements and system upgrades (QuickBooks experience a plus)

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or nonprofit coursework a plus)

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in nonprofit or grant accounting

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles (ASC 958)

  • Experience working with auditors and preparing audit documentation

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, MIP, or similar nonprofit accounting systems

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong organizational habits

  • Comfortable working in a mission-focused, collaborative environment

  • Passion for serving the community and supporting a purpose-driven mission

Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary: $75,000 – $85,000, depending on experience

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week (Monday–Friday)

  • 100% On-Site in West Austin — no remote option

  • Comprehensive benefits including paid holidays, health insurance, and 401(k) plan
