LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire an Inventory Accountant in Berkeley, California. Ideally, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of our financial operations.
PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed inside the client’s office In Berkeley, California. This is NOT a remote opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update inventory records in the accounting system.
Perform regular audits of inventory levels and reconcile discrepancies.
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and reports related to inventory.
Analyze inventory costs and identify variances.
Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Collaborate with purchasing and warehouse departments to manage inventory needs.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
Monitor and report on slow-moving and obsolete inventory items.
Develop and implement inventory control procedures.
Provide support during financial audits.
Evaluate and recommend improvements to inventory management systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory accounting.
Strong understanding of GAAP and inventory accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software and inventory management systems.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Workday.
