LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Accountant for a contract opportunity (Temporary) in Berkeley, California. The inventory accountant plays a critical role maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting efficient financial operations. You will also provide essential services in determining commissions and other revenue for the client and the independently owned stores within its network.
PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed inside the client’s office in Berkeley, California. This is NOT a remote opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Record Maintenance: Regularly update and manage inventory records within the accounting system to ensure accuracy.
Reconciliation: Conduct periodic audits and reconciliations of inventory levels, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed reports related to inventory transactions and valuations.
Cost Analysis: Analyze inventory costs, including cost of goods sold (COGS), and investigate variances to provide actionable insights.
Physical Counts Coordination: Coordinate and oversee physical inventory counts and cycle counts, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Compliance Assurance: Ensure all inventory accounting practices comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with purchasing, warehouse, and operations teams to align inventory data and resolve issues.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in inventory accounting or a related role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and inventory management systems; advanced Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables).
Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and inventory control procedures.
Analytical Skills: Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments.

Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
Industry Experience: Experience in manufacturing, retail, or distribution industries.
ERP Systems: Familiarity with ERP systems such as Workday or SAP.
