As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Union Payroll Specialist to join our team.
Position Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and oversee all aspects of payroll processing. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of payroll procedures, labor laws, and union regulations. They will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for unionized and non-union employees, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and government regulations.
Responsibilities:
Process union payroll in accordance with established procedures and deadlines
Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies
Calculate wages, deductions, overtime, and other adjustments as per union agreements
Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely onboarding and termination of union employees
Maintain updated knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and union regulations
Address inquiries and concerns from union members regarding payroll matters
Prepare reports and documentation for audits and compliance purposes
Support and back-up payroll processing for corporate and non-union employees
Assist in developing and implementing payroll policies and procedures
Work closely with finance and accounting teams for accurate financial reporting
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in union payroll administration
Proficient in payroll software and MS Office, especially Excel
Understanding of labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and union regulations
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Payroll (CPP, FPC, etc.)
Experience with in-house payroll processing
