The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's environmental health and safety programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and promotes a culture of safety within the organization. The EHS Manager will work closely with all departments to identify potential hazards, develop safety protocols, and provide training to employees. This is a Direct Hire opportunity located near Carol Stream, IL.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Ensure the company complies with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, and develop and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring that all employees are aware of and understand safety protocols and procedures
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinating and conducting emergency drills to ensure preparedness
- Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, incidents, and compliance, preparing and submitting required reports to regulatory agencies
- Proactively identify opportunities for improving EHS performance, implementing initiatives to enhance safety culture and reduce environmental impact
- Work closely with other departments, including HR, Operations, and Facilities, to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of the business
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or similar are preferred
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards, excellent communication and training skills, and the ability to lead and influence others
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety

- Pay is $30-$40 an hour, depending on experience
