Position Title: Senior Staff Accountant
Location: Chicago, IL 60604 (Downtown Loop)
About the Role: Our client, a respected private membership organization located in Chicago’s vibrant Loop, is looking for a detail-driven and proactive Senior Staff Accountant. This position plays a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, managing accounts receivable, and contributing to monthly financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring precision, a strong sense of accountability, and a commitment to delivering excellent service to members.
Primary Duties:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare related reports.
Record journal entries with accuracy and completeness.
Support the monthly close process in accordance with GAAP.
Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
Process incoming payments and ensure accurate revenue recognition.
Respond to member inquiries related to accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
Issue invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, and manage dues renewals and confirmations.
Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and annual budgets.
Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to uphold transparent and compliant accounting practices.
Provide documentation for state charity filings, 990s, sales tax returns, 1099s, and audit requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a client-services or hospitality setting.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
