Benefits Coordinator

The Benefits Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring employees understand and effectively utilize their benefits packages. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. This is a Contract opportunity located in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Manage enrollment processes, ensuring accurate and timely enrollment of employees in benefit plans.
  • Communicate benefits information to employees, explaining plan options, eligibility requirements, and enrollment procedures.
  • Answer employee questions regarding benefits and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee benefits elections and ensure data integrity in HR systems.
  • Process benefits invoices and reconcile discrepancies with vendors.
  • Conduct benefits orientations for new hires, explaining benefits packages and enrollment procedures.
  • Manage leave of absence requests, including tracking leave time and coordinating with employees and managers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to employee benefits.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in benefits legislation and regulations.
  • Research and analyze benefits trends to make recommendations for improvements to existing programs.
  • Collaborate with HR team members on benefits-related projects and initiatives.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for benefits programs. (Depending on experience level)
  • Assist with the open enrollment process, including preparing materials and communicating with employees.
  • Conduct audits of benefits plans to ensure accuracy and compliance. (Depending on experience level)

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in benefits administration, preferably in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs and regulations (e.g., ERISA, COBRA, FMLA).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Monday- Friday, onsite
  • Pay $24-$26 an hour, depending on experience
