Job Title: Benefits Specialist

Job Description:

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for coordinating the internal processes of the business benefits and compensation. Working in tandem with the Human Resources Director, the Benefits Specialist assists in the development of processes and strategies surrounding the management of the organization’s benefits. This role ensures the accurate and timely processing of benefits for new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations. The Benefits Administrator prepares, administers, and maintains records, files, and reporting information for various programs in accordance with processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including Health, Dental, Vision Insurance, Long Term Disability (LTD), and Life eligibility. Additionally, the Benefits Administrator maintains a good working knowledge of benefit legislation, industry standards, and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules meetings with all new employees to explain the information in their packets. Clearly explain the differences in Health, Dental & Vision plans, and concludes with assisting employees with the self service completion of the new hire's.

  • Provides direct support to employees, retirees, and COBRA participants to answer questions and/or research and respond to inquiries related to enrollment, changes, claims, plan design and compliance issues for pre-tax and after-tax benefit plans

  • Creates and maintains information regarding employee retirement and retiree's benefits, including premium reimbursement to retirees per union agreements.

  • Calculates deductions for group health, life, and disability insurance premiums as a support function for Payroll. Prepares insurance premium reports for reconciliation with insurance carriers and other program vendors.

  • Processes requisitions and works with Accounts/Payable to ensure they are remitted on time.

  • Provides direct support to employees, retirees, and COBRA participants to answer questions and/or research and respond to inquiries related to enrollment, changes, claims, plan design and compliance issues for pre-tax and after-tax benefit plans.

  • Provide general support to participants via phone, email, text, and mail.

  • Manage inboxes, faxes, and mail, responding or distributing information as appropriate.

  • Assist in preparing reports and conducting regular billing audits.

Requirements:

  • Strong team player with a customer-focused mindset and proven experience in customer service and administrative roles.

  • Analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to learn, retain, and explain eligibility requirements and benefit options for multiple member groups.

  • Well-developed communication skills (written and verbal) and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Pay Details: $24.00 to $27.00 per hour
