Finance & Accounting Specialist – Real Estate Portfolio
LHH is seeking a seasoned Finance & Accounting Specialist to support financial operations across a 10M sq. ft. commercial real estate portfolio. This onsite role in downtown Chicago offers a dynamic opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
Liaise between NM finance teams and third-party consultants
Manage monthly validations and data uploads between PeopleSoft and Yardi
Lead annual Tax and OPEX reconciliations and revenue budgeting
Review operating budgets and assist in preparing OPEX, Tax, and Capital Budgets
Audit tenant billing and ensure lease compliance
Coordinate tax exemptions and PIN tracking with legal teams
Support monthly reporting including NOI variance, AR aging, and retail performance
Compliance & Process Optimization
Monitor property compliance and support purchase workflows
Track capital projects, Tenant Improvements (TI), and year-end accruals
Recommend and implement process improvements
Audit internal procedures for financial and operational integrity
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Communicate building-related issues and identify improvement opportunities
Contribute to monthly business unit reports and presentations
Perform additional duties aligned with organizational priorities
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of relevant experience
5–7+ years in finance/accounting, including 3+ years in real estate
Strong communication and customer service skills
Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred
Advanced Excel skills (math and charting functions)
Expertise in Yardi software
