Intellectual Property Patent Paralegal

Candidate must reside in either Chicago; Milwaukee; Madison to work in the office in either of these three cities.

We are seeking a Patent Prosecution Paralegal to join our client’s team in Chicago, Milwaukee, or Madison. This role is fully onsite and offers a salary range of $70,000 to $95,000, depending on experience. The paralegal will assist with all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution across multiple clients and technologies.

Experience with research institutions and/or tech transfers is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the filing of new patent applications.

  • Analyzing USPTO and foreign counsel correspondence.

  • Tracking due dates using matter management and docketing systems.

  • Proactively preparing client reports and prosecution documents.

  • Communicating with the USPTO, attorneys, paralegals, liaisons, foreign associates, staff, and clients regarding prosecution matters.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience working with intellectual property, with a focus on patent prosecution.

  • A minimum of 2+ years of law firm experience.

  • A bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification is desirable.

  • Strong attention to detail and expertise in managing an extensive patent prosecution docket.

  • Exceptional client service focus.

  • A commitment to being part of a collaborative team.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Outstanding communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
