LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a seasoned Legal Word Processor to support a bustling litigation group at our client's Chicago law firm. This is a temporary W2 contract role anticipated to commence around August 1st and the assignment is anticipated to run for approximately 90 days, with potential for extension. You must be able to start immediately!

Responsibilities:

  • Create, edit, and manipulate complex legal documents
  • Convert and format documents across various applications
  • Proofread documents for accuracy and consistency
  • Transcribe dictation and perform redlines
  • Convert PDFs to Word or Excel, create fillable forms, and extract/redact/revise PDFs
  • Generate table of contents, table of authorities, and assist with time entry using InTapp
  • Create and modify PowerPoint presentations, Bates stamp and bookmark PDFs
  • Implement automatic numbering schemes, styles, and watermarks
  • Execute mail merges

Qualifications:

  • Typing 60+ WPM (willingness to take a typing and legal proofreading assessment)
  • Minimum 3 years of legal word processing and legal transcription experience
  • Recent US law firm experience supporting high-volume civil litigation defense attorneys
  • Demonstrated expertise with redlining, formatting, and watermarking legal documents, Bates Stamping, TOCs, TOAs, and PDF form manipulation, bookmarking, and conversions
  • Previous experience tracking, reviewing, and editing attorney time (preferably using InTapp)
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and other relevant software
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently
  • Experience with civil litigation and corporate legal documents
  • Excellent written communication skills and familiarity with legal terminology

This position will require onsite training in Chicago for the initial weeks, with potential for hybrid work (1-2 days remote) thereafter, based on business needs.

Hourly Pay Rate Range: $23-$31, DOE
