Salary: $50,000 – $62,000 Annually (Based on Experience)
A busy Chicago law firm is looking to add a Pre-Litigation Legal Assistant to their growing personal injury support team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who excels at managing high-volume casework and delivering exceptional client service.
About the Role:
The Pre-Litigation Legal Assistant will play a key role in the early stages of personal injury cases, working closely with attorneys and insurance carriers to prepare case files, gather medical records, and ensure timely communication with clients. The right candidate is highly organized, empathetic, and able to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Open, organize, and maintain personal injury case files in the firm’s case management system.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, medical providers, and insurance representatives.
Track deadlines and ensure timely submission of required documents.
Review medical records, billing statements, and related documentation for case preparation.
Coordinate the collection and delivery of medical records and other supporting documents to insurance carriers.
Draft written correspondence, client communications, and settlement-related paperwork.
Assist with preparation of settlement demands and related case materials.
Process client settlement checks and related financial documentation.
Communicate with clients regularly to provide case updates with care and professionalism.
Escalate urgent matters or complex client concerns to the appropriate team member.
Schedule client appointments as needed.
Perform other administrative and case-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience supporting personal injury cases in a legal assistant or case management capacity.
At least 2 years of experience in pre-litigation workflow and file management.
Strong ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical thinking and ability to solve problems proactively.
Client-focused with a professional and compassionate approach.
Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are a plus but not required.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $50,000 – $62,000 annually, depending on experience.
