Payroll Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a payroll specialist for a client in Downton Cincinnati. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing the organization's payroll needs, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. This position is direct hire and will pay between $50K and $65K annually depending on experience and education.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the weekly payroll processing for employees.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Perform accurate computation of pay according to company policy and in line with statutory regulations.
  • Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Issue, or reissue, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits and returns.
  • Coordinate with HR department to ensure correct employee data and payroll setup.
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions.
  • Assists with Benefits and some HR when needed
  • Assist with accounts payable when needed.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a payroll specialist
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Working knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
